The Bulova wristwatch was born in Bienne, Switzerland in 1919. Bulova Corporation came into fruition much earlier than 1919 in 1875, when a young immigrant from Bohemia, Joseph Bulova, commenced fabricating boudoir, table clocks and pocket watches in his tiny jewelry shop in New York City.
In 1923 Bulova watches created history by revolutionizing watch servicing – each part of a Bulova wristwatch is built with such a precision that makes a certain part interchangeable with a similar part of any other Bulova wristwatch. The Bulova Accuquartz calendar wristwatch for men, made of 18-karat gold, was the first quartz-crystal watch to be sold at retail in USA for $41,325. Bulova watches were also the winner at the world’s premier design competition for solid-state digital watches at the Prix de la Ville de Geneve watch styling competition which is one of the most prestigious international watch-styling competitions. This corporation is also the mother of the first electronic watch, Accutron. Bulova had also worked with NASA in the latter’s space technology and adventures which included the first moon walk in 1969.
